What Is EEPROM Programming?

EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) programming is a specialist method used to read and modify the security data stored inside a vehicle's electronic control modules.

In some vehicles, the immobiliser or key information cannot be accessed through the diagnostic port. Instead, the memory chip is read directly using dedicated programming equipment, allowing us to add or replace keys, recover immobiliser data, or repair corrupted security information.

Can You Clone Immobiliser Data?

In some situations, yes.

Module cloning allows security information to be transferred from a damaged control module to a replacement module, reducing programming time and helping retain the vehicle's original configuration.

Does EEPROM Programming Cost More Than Standard Key Programming?

In most cases, yes. EEPROM programming is a more advanced and time-intensive process than standard OBD key programming. It often requires the removal of electronic control modules, direct access to memory chips, and the use of specialised programming equipment to read and modify immobiliser data.

Because every vehicle is different, the time and complexity involved can vary significantly. Some vehicles can be completed relatively quickly, while others require extensive disassembly and programming procedures. It is in most cases still cheaper and quicker then a trip to the dealership and no tow is needed.
